ABOUT ME

Judy Photo 2.jpg

I have been a psychotherapist for more than 40 years and was one of the Founders of the Bath Centre for Psychotherapy and Counseling.
For much of my professional life I have been very concerned about the lack of diversity in psychotherapy and this led to my doctoral research into whiteness within a racialised society.

My book, ‘Being White in the Helping Professions’ was published in 2009 and ‘White Privilege Unmasked: How to be part of the solution’, in 2019.

I am a founder and director of the charity Trauma Foundation South West, which provides counseling and psychotherapy for refugees and asylum seekers, as well as training and supervision for those working with traumatized refugees and asylum seekers in other agencies.
